The first passive communication exercise

This section begins to apply the skills learned from the previous exercises of levitation and externalisation of the spiritual hand, which aim to foster passive communication with other beings.
Before moving forward, it is important to reiterate some key points that will help clarify the contours, meaning, and limitations of this practice and the subsequent ones:
- This is not a form of divination. The exercises are designed to help you become familiar with states of being that differ from your usual ones, as well as with the entities that inhabit the astral and mental planes. They focus on preparing “passive” tools, such as the pendulum, over which we have no control.
- We are not discussing mediumistic experiences. The goal is to connect or engage in dialogue with the source of inner inspiration, commonly referred to in Western culture as the “guardian angel.”
- We should consider the possibility that our results may be a form of self-deception created by our unconscious mind; this is often the case during the initial stages of practice. To overcome doubt, it is essential to continue practising the depth point techniques.
- Starting is pointless if you haven’t achieved results in preparatory exercises.
The practice
If you don’t have a divination pendulum, you can use a ring or any other metal object of similar weight tied to a silk thread. Wrap one end of the thread around your index finger several times. Bardon also mentions the sidereal pendulum, a conical brass pendulum with an upper part that you can unscrew to insert small objects inside. However, the specific instrument you use is not essential; what matters is that you can utilise it effectively for your purpose.
Sit at a table where you have placed a glass, a metal jar, or a similar object that can clink when it comes in contact with the pendulum. Rest both hands and forearms on the table. Focus on accumulating the Air Element in your right hand and forearm until they feel weightless. Lift them as needed to position the pendulum about one inch above the tabletop and a few inches away from the glass. Use your left hand and forearm for this exercise if you are left-handed.
Begin by externalising your mental hand along with your forearm, keeping it at a distance from the physical counterpart. Then, with your eyes closed, enter a meditative state to facilitate a consciousness transfer to the depth point of your solar plexus. With practice, you can accomplish this process in just a few minutes. At this stage, your physical hand is “empty” or, as Bardon describes it, in the “fourth dimension,” existing outside the confines of space and time, ready to interact with the being you wish to communicate with. This being serves as a “guide” and may manifest as an internal voice of conscience or a sudden burst of intuition. In this instance, we will use a pendulum to establish that connection.
Focus your awareness on the solar plexus and mentally summon the protective entity, whether you call it a Guardian Genius or a Guardian Angel. While the specific labels are not essential, they help convey the idea that you are connecting with a distinct entity, a representation of a part of the Self that is separate from our individuality. You can attract the being by expressing this desire, allowing it to use its empty hand to establish contact. At this point, ask the entity to indicate its responses using the pendulum: one tap on the glass represents “no,” two taps mean “maybe,” and three taps signify “yes” to your questions.
Open your eyes and inquire about the guide himself. Are they willing to communicate? Is it acceptable to ask questions that concern us directly? You can express these questions both mentally and verbally. However, asking them verbally emphasises that the communication is happening with an objective entity.
After the practice session, return to your usual state of consciousness, reintegrate the astral and mental hand and forearm with the physical body and disperse any accumulated Air element. This technique does not guarantee that you will avoid subjective psychic projections at first. However, with consistent practice, you will eventually reach a point where you perceive direct contact with an entity that is separate from yourself.
