The current mewa

Babmé refers to the calculation of the mewa for a specific year, which is then compared with the mewa of the individual’s year of birth. This calculation is carried out in two ways, depending on whether the year of birth has a masculine or feminine polarity.

As a first example, let’s consider a 26-year-old born in 2000 1, during the Dragon-Metal male year, with a mewa of 3 (see Table 1). We proceed as follows:

  • We use the square of the mewa with the birth mewa number in the centre
  • We count 26 years, starting from the number in the centre of the square and proceeding counterclockwise in the east-northwest-south direction. When we reach the southeast corner, we continue counting from the centre and then restart from the eastern point. For clarity, we can assign values directly: 11 to the eastern box, 21 to the northeastern box, and so on.
  • From the box after the one containing the value 21, we count five boxes counterclockwise until we reach number 7, which represents the current mewa for the 26th year of life (Figure 1).

As for a person born in 1983, 43 years old (42 + 1), Boar-Water female year with mewa 2:

  • We use the square of the mewa with the birth mewa number in the centre.
  • The counting always starts from the centre square and moves toward the eastern square. This time, we will follow a clockwise rotation. When we reach square 41 (in the southwest direction), we will count two more squares, moving to the northwest square and arriving at number 3, which represents the current number for the 43rd year of life (Figure 2).

The birth mewa and the current mewa can be the same, as in the 46th year of life referred to in the previous example.

Calculating the current year’s chart ideally follows the solar return system used in Western astrology. In this system, a horoscope is created for the desired year and then compared to the individual’s birth chart. Similarly, it’s also possible to compare the birth mewa with that of the current year. If the two mewas coincide, the year is considered potentially harmful.

Importance of the current mewa

Each mewa holds significant importance for specific groups of individuals, positively or negatively, regardless of gender:

  1. The infants
  2. The teenagers
  3. Children up to 10 years old
  4. The widowers
  5. Priests and monks, if they have a vow of chastity
  6. The Mystics
  7. Women in general
  8. High state officials (ministers, etc.)
  9. Old or very honourable people, kings, princes

Special cases

  • If the individual is male and the current mewa is 6, the Gate of Heaven opens; if it is 2, the Gate of Earth opens.
  • If the individual is female and the current mewa is 4, the Door of Earth opens; if it is 1, the Door of Heaven opens.
